Although MAX and processing were compatible with OSX, I couldn’t quite get what I was looking for.
Discobrick vs software#
As for the background of the spectrum, a still time-lapse of some sort of scene would look interesting.Ī problem that I found was that a lot of software made for audiovisuals were only compatible with Windows PC. I could easily use just one but I think its more visually pleasing to be moving from one controller to the next.Īn audio spectrum is going to be the main spectacle as I think it’ll be very interactive with the music being played. The synths will come solely from Ableton simply because I have plenty of control over them and I’m happy with how they sound.įor the performance, I will be using 2 MIDI keyboards. some heavily edited vocals in the background would thicken the texture some more but I have to remember the thicker the texture the harder it will be for the visualizer to create a nice image.

I would also like to add some vocals, however, live vocals aren’t an option because I can’t sing. I have also found some risers and bass drop sounds from looperman that are really effective and will give the piece a thick texture. I have recently found interesting 808 drum samples from a source called looperman that I’ll be using for the performance. I also found some interesting ways to play around with the notes and to change it up so it sounds more personal to me. I’m going to use the Oliver Heldens – Gecko hook as it is the least complicated to play in a live looping performance and it came more natural for me to play than any others I tried. The hooks from these tracks would work perfectly because they’re not too complicated for a visualizer to follow. I want the beginning to be something snappy but also quite minimal so that the visuals will react very dramatically a few examples would the hook from tracks like Astronamia, came here for love and Bloom. So for that reason, I want the sound side of this project to be a music piece. Do I want to create music or a soundscape? From experience with other music projects, I’ve realized that music can determine the way footage can make you feel (for example swapping a dark soundtrack to a happy soundtrack can change your perspective of a video). My main point I need to think about is what type of sound do I want to produce.
